Event Information: We sent a friendly reminder to all employees reminding them to recognise that work life balance is personal to each individual. We reminded employees to take responsibility for their own work life balance,and to take care of their wellbeing. We also provided the employees with a schedule of four upcoming seminars titled 'Strategies For Managing The Challenges of Life'. These seminars are running in-house throughout the months of March and April. They are provided by Catherine McGeachy, Vision Consultants, who is a highly experienced and educated consultant in this field. This exercise complimented our new in-house Wellness initiatives which have been very successful to-date.

Event Information: To promote Work Life Balance Day we ran a raffle for two sets of four Grandstand tickets to the St. Patrick's Festival Parade on Thursday 17th March.

Event Information: This year in MedNova we have organised a really exciting program of events. We have invited a number of speakers to give a talk on their specialised area: - Nutrition - Personal Training and Fitness - Stress Management. We have also organised an occupational nurse to come in and carry out blood pressure checks for those interested. Additionally, we have ordered in fruit baskets and fruit smoothies for all staff on the day to promote healthy eating. Finally we have arranged to shut the plant 2 hours early on the day to allow staff some free time for themselves! We are really looking forward to the day and we hope to have the same and more for Work Life Balance Day 2006!

Event Information: On Work Life Balance Day all staff will be reminded, through the intranet or by letter, of the extensive benefits and policies which exist in the Council to help get the balance right. We have organised a Staff Benefits Awareness Day whereby external service providers e.g. financial bodies and health clubs, will be available all day in County Hall to provide advice and information to employees. The 'Workplace Partnership' Staff Well-Being Stand will be officially launched in the canteen which will display information on health, diet, social and the general well-being of people at work. In conjunction with this a survey to assess staff needs in relation to healthy eating options will be carried out on the day. All employees who complete the survey will be entered into a draw with vouchers for a family lunch and beauty/relaxation treatments.

Event Information: To acknowledge Work Life Balance, Creative will run competitions throughout all of our European Offices from Monday 28th to Friday 4th March. Each day HR will send an email outlining the Advantages and Benefits that Creative offer to facilitate a Healthy Work/ Life Balance. Included in the emails we will run competitions and quizzes based on Work/Life Balance Ethos within Creative.

Employees will be encouraged to bring in photos of their family, the most innovative of which will receive a prize. A member of our Creative Camera Club will judge this.

Prizes will include Bicycles, DVDs, Family Lunch Vouchers etc

In addition to this a guest speaker has been invited to come on site each day of the week. Presentations will cover topics such as family life, leading a healthy life styles etc. Each of European Offices will also arrange guest Speakers to deliver presentations appropriate to their employee needs. The Dublin timetable of events is as follows:

Monday 28th

Nicorette will advise and provide useful tips to assist Employees to cease or cut down on smoking.

Tuesday 1st

Presentations on Parenting. Being a parent must be one of the most challenging and exhilarating roles in our lives. The Parenting Presentation will introduce ten ideas to assist parents in developing an effective relationship with their children. There will be a presentation for parents of children between the ages of 0-5 years and a separate presentation for children 8-12 years.

We are also encouraging employees to bake cakes etc with members of their Family. We will have a cake sale on Tuesday, the proceeds of which will go our Benevolent Fund.

Wednesday 2nd

Healthy Eating Presentations. A Weight Watchers Team Leader will be on-site to provide advice and alternative healthy meal options. On this day we will also encourage low calories healthy options in the Canteen.

Thursday 3rd

Budget and Money Matters Presentation. A representative from MABS will advise individuals on how to draw up a budget to pay routine bills. Also to provide a plan to address all arrears in a way, which is practical and manageable. The aim is to assist a person to regain control of their own finances and in turn avoid the consequences of debt.

Friday 4th

On Friday 4th March we are inviting employee's family members to visit the workplace of their mother/ father/ partner etc. A drawing will be sent to all of the European offices on Monday 28th so that children can bring the completed picture with them on Friday 4th. Food will be provided for visitors as well as a party pack for Children and a Creative Gift for Adults.

On this day we will also offer baking lessons to the children of Creative Employees. Classes will be held for 2-6 year olds and 6-12 year olds.

Event Information: On Tuesday 8 March 2005 at Queen's University Belfast, the NI Branch of the CIPD - Balance Life and Work Seminar is focusing on the Employer of First Choice by attracting talented staff through Work-Life Balance. The main speaker is Professor David Clutterbuck author of Managing Work Life Balance A guide for HR in achieving organisational and individual change. The Seminar will be of interest to, and benefit for, all line and HR Managers and all those within organisations and companies seeking to develop their People. It is hoped to have a few case studies for example companies which have successfully completed the Employer of Choice Programme. Examples of some of the primary, secondary and tertiary strategies that companies have successfully adopted in order to achieve a better work-life balance will be provided. The Policy Advisers on Diversity and Employee Relations from CIPD Headquarters will speak on their specialisms in relation to family friendly policies and an Employment Law update will be included..
